XANALYS Indexer with Link Explorer Training Course
Target Audience
This course has been developed for users of XANALYS Link Explorer
and XANALYS Indexer. Typically, XANALYS Indexer will be used
to extract information from documents and add them to your
database. XANALYS Link Explorer will be used to query and
view that data.
The course assumes no prior knowledge of either XANALYS
Link Explorer or XANALYS Indexer. Primarily aimed at users
new to both applications, the course will also be useful to
existing XANALYS Link Explorer or XANALYS Indexer users wishing
to extend their knowledge.

Pre-requisites
The course has been developed for those who are already familiar
with:
Windows 98/2000/NT or ME.
Duration
The course is scheduled to cover three days. It is classroom
based, with practical activities throughout.
Objectives
This course guides new users of XANALYS Indexer and XANALYS
Link Explorer through the functionality and use of these powerful
tools and explains the importance of a methodical and logical
approach especially when entering data.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the use of XANALYS Link Explorer workfiles and
templates.
- Create and assign security levels to a particular database
or workfile.
- Use different methods to enter data; Data Entry Forms,
import from a text file, and import using the 'Service'
function.
- Create and apply various queries to your data using different
approaches, and different levels of constraint.
- Select the appropriate chart type for use with your query,
and customize the chart display.
- Employ styles effectively; change the default style for
a chart, edit the style for an object or class, add annotation
and link boxes.
- Use and apply Analysis features to your data; Explore,
Find Links, Trace, Select and Dynamic Styles.
- Produce hard copies of your XANALYS Link Explorer chart
or report, setting up the print options as you require.
Clearly identify what XANALYS Indexer can do - and basically
how it does it.
- Set up an appropriate ODBC data source and database for
use with Indexer using Microsoft Access.
- Recognize the importance and use of the configuration
in Indexer; how it governs your results, and the options
you have to modify and apply different configurations.
- Explore and edit the unification rules to control the
quality of your PowerIndexed results.
- Use XANALYS Indexer Document Indexer and Oneshot to select
documents, PowerIndex them and export results to your database.
- Use the full functionality available from Document Indexer
to review, edit and filter your results.
- Within XANALYS Indexer, create and apply your own category
or word list.
- Use XANALYS Indexer and XANALYS Link Explorer to complete
an assigned practical case study; from adding and PowerIndexing
documents, through queries and analysis to final chart production.
