The Harlequin Connection
Xanalys emerged from the breakup of the global technology company Harlequin Limited. In the late 1980s Harlequin had begun to develop analytical solutions for law enforcement agencies. This work resulted in the release of Watson – one of the first commercially available ‘link analysis’ applications. Throughout the 1990s intelligence analysts from agencies and organisations around the globe adopted Watson – now called Link Explorer – as their chosen data analysis tool.
Harlequin was also responsible for the initial development of PowerCase, our investigation management solution. Originally designed in response to the HOLMES 2 requirements, as specified by the UK Home Office, PowerCase continues to support the core HOLMES 2 features.
