Job title: Systems Administrator
Location: Altrincham
Salary: £35,000
Position Type:  Permanent /Full-time

An excellent opportunity has become available for a Systems Administrator to join an independent software company in a permanent full-time role earning up to £35,000 per year.
As the Systems Administrator you’ll be responsible for ensuring the security, availability and performance of the company’s IT infrastructure, providing day-to-day IT support to a highly technical user base and mentoring the junior members of the systems team.

In addition to the base salary, there is an annual bonus based on company performance and other benefits include a contributory pension, generous holiday allowance, free parking and flexible working hours.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that the company’s IT infrastructure is secure and supports the software development life cycle at the company, meeting the needs of both internal users and external clients
  • Build, configure, and troubleshoot infrastructure software and hardware, perform application deployments and infrastructure up-grades.
  • Provide day-to-day support, trouble-shooting and problem-solving for all the company’s IT infrastructure
  • Mentor and manage a junior systems administrator.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, storage, network and server resources, systems and key processes.
  • Administration and monitoring of the UTM server and all network & security services.
  • Comply, enforce and participate in the management of the companies ISO27001 policies and disaster recovery plan.
  • Reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled backups.
  • Manage the company’s internal IT help desk.
  • Research, recommend and implement new systems and services to improve the company’s infrastructure.

Key Experience/Skills:

  • Significant experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to stay calm and focused under pressure
  • A team player with the ability to be able to work on your own initiative

In-depth knowledge required:

  • administering Windows Server and desktop environments
  • administering firewalls and threat management services
  • network infrastructure, routers/switches
  • VMware (vSphere and VCenter)
  • Backups and Disaster Recovery

Proficiency / working knowledge required:

  • Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Atlassian products (mainly Jira and Confluence)
  • Citrix
  • Network services (VPN, DNS, DHCP, AD, ADFS)

Some Exposure/Basic knowledge preferred:

  • Working with cloud services
  • Database administration (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Hardware/Software/License maintenance and purchasing

Job title: Junior Developer
Location: Altrincham, Manchester
Salary: up to £25k
Position Type: Permanent /Full-time
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Junior Developer to join an independent software company in a permanent full time role.
As a Junior Developer you will be working with senior developers as part of the team responsible for the development of the company’s next generation of investigative case management solutions. Our products include both web and native applications using the Microsoft .Net technology stack, and initially you would be working on configuring solutions for customers based on our in-house technology platform.
The technologies we use include:

• XML, XQuery, XML Schema, XML Schematron, XPath, XSL, XAML
• JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3,
• ASP.NET MVC, C#, .net
• Bootstrap, AngularJS, JQuery
• SOA, WCF Web Services,
• SQL Server, Oracle,
• Microsoft Azure,
• Microsoft Visual Studio

Previous exposure to some of these technologies would be great, but we are most interested in candidates with the ability to take on the challenges of learning new skills and developing solutions in a fast moving, agile environment :-

• Numerical and analytical skills proven via a suitable degree or similar
• Capable of working in a team or as an individual
• Self-motivated and self-starting
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
• Confidence and ability to contribute in the design and development of new applications under the guidance of senior developers

The starting salary will be up to £25,000 per year depending on experience. Bonuses are paid regularly and are dependent on company performance. Other benefits include contributory pension, generous holiday allowance, and flexible working hours.
