Job title: Junior Software Tester
Location: Altrincham, Manchester
Salary: up to £22k
Position Type: Permanent /Full-time

A great opportunity is available for a Junior Software Tester to join an independent software company in a permanent full-time role. As a junior tester, you will be working as part of the team responsible for the development of the company’s next generation of investigative case management solutions. Our software products use a multitier architecture based on the Microsoft .Net technology stack with web browser and rich client user interfaces.

You’ll be responsible for preparing and executing functional and user acceptance test plans to ensure the software created by the development team is fit for purpose. This will require manual testing, including regression and integration testing. In addition, you will collate and document test results and track issues through to completion.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and execution of test plans for product releases
  • Functional, integration and regression testing
  • Creation of test data sets
  • Document test results and maintain issue tracking databases
  • Liaise with developers and product management on change requests and issue tracking
  • Verification and sign off on bug fixes and issue resolutions

Some previous experience of software testing is required but we are most interested in candidates with the ability to take on the challenges of learning new skills and developing solutions in a fast moving, agile environment. We are expecting:

  • Numerical and analytical skills proven via a suitable degree or similar qualification e.g. ISTQB
  • A good understanding of the software development life-cycle and the software testing process
  • Ability to solve problems independently using an analytical approach
  • Team Player with the ability to be able to work on your own initiative
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in an agile environment
  • A reasonable working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and tools
  • A basic understanding of Databases and SQL

The starting salary will be up to £22,000 per year depending on experience. Bonuses are paid regularly and are dependent on company performance. Other benefits include contributory pension, generous holiday allowance, and flexible working hours.

Job title: Junior Developer
Location: Altrincham, Manchester

Position Type: Permanent /Full-time
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Junior Developer to join an independent software company in a permanent full time role.
As a Junior Developer you will be working with senior developers as part of the team responsible for the development of the company’s next generation of investigative case management solutions. Our products include both web and native applications using the Microsoft .Net technology stack, and initially you would be working on configuring solutions for customers based on our in-house technology platform.
The technologies we use include:

• XML, XQuery, XML Schema, XML Schematron, XPath, XSL, XAML
• JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3,
• ASP.NET MVC, C#, .net
• Bootstrap, AngularJS, JQuery
• SOA, WCF Web Services,
• SQL Server, Oracle,
• Microsoft Azure,
• Microsoft Visual Studio

Previous exposure to some of these technologies would be great, but we are most interested in candidates with the ability to take on the challenges of learning new skills and developing solutions in a fast moving, agile environment :-

• Numerical and analytical skills proven via a suitable degree or similar
• Capable of working in a team or as an individual
• Self-motivated and self-starting
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
• Confidence and ability to contribute in the design and development of new applications under the guidance of senior developers
